growing MUSHROOMS with kids

Growing mushrooms is a fun, rewarding, and delicious experience. It's a fascinating pastime, one that always holds a sense of wonder. And it just doesn't get any better than eating something that you've grown yourself.
My dad brought these mushroom growing kits for my sons June 10. They're excited to watch these small fungi when getting up and coming home from school! So did I!  Regis felt frustrated when he found Felix's sprout came out first and grew faster. I told him "It's because Felix's an older brother, who came to the world earlier than you." Then, he felt better.

graduation season 2017

The 6th grade graduated on Friday, June 16th. It's cool that I had only 12 classes left a week till the end of the semester!
I got the jelly and onion rings from a 4th grade birthday girl just before the class started. I hit upon the idea of asking the class to sing Happy Birthday Song and accompanying them on piano in class.

Watching our kids reach new milestones can be bittersweet as a parent. It means they're growing and learning which is amazing and makes us so proud, but it also means they're getting BIGGER which, let's face it- is kinda sad!
Regis graduated from kindergarten today. I can't believe my second born "baby" is leaving kindergarten at the end of this month and going into elementary. It seems like yesterday that he was just starting school when he was 3.5.
