Happy graduation 2021

Time flies! 11 year old Felix graduated today! Too bad schools have closed due to Covid-19 since May 18, 2021.😷 After online ceremony, I took him to the school to give his homeroom teacher a thank you card and hot coffee. Also, he and his schoolmates shared graduation wishes. It's cool that I have only 14 online classes a week left till the end of the semester!

spring 2021

I encouraged my children to experience more, especially before junior high. They took part in the annual school science competition on March 6th. Regis and his partner participated for the first time. He also took part in the school math contest on May 6. Besides, he's elected as a model student in his class. Felix's busy with schoolwork, entrance exams of private high schools and public junior high music class, Falla Music Competition and science fair competition. They got good results and gained a sense of achievement. I think it helps learning. Also, I hope they can be grateful and cherish what they have.
Felix's going to junior high school at the end of Aug. I'm not satisfied with the nearby public school. Just before entrance exams of two private schools my husband and I decided at the last moment to let him take a try, so he wasn't well prepared. He's lucky enough to get accepted to both! However, his Chinese and math scores weren't good enough. He needs to study harder to go into a good senior high school later. My husband hopes he goes to nearby school due to distance and tuitions, but Felix and I prefer a private one for better peers.
On the week before semi final of science fair competition on April 17, Felix stayed with his team and teachers in school until 9:00pm almost everyday. They got a good result, but it's a pity that they didn't enter the national final. In the meantimehe needed to make good use of fragmented time to prepare for midterms on April 21 and 22 and entrance exams of public junior high music class on April 24After the whole crazy busy weeks, I'm satisfied with the results. Regis ranked 3rd in his class on midterms. Felix ranked 2nd and got accepted to Chongqing Junior High School music class!
Maybe it's because Felix's too busy or he's turned into a teenager. He's easily impatient with other's reminders recently. I'm glad he likes to talk with me and snuggle close to me. I guess what I need to do is supporting him and listening to him. He told me he enjoyed his cello performance on the entrance exam. I asked him if he'd like to take part in a cello competition this August just before he starts junior high. He said YES! I told his cello teacher and then he got a repertoire two days later! Saint-Saëns Allegro appassionato Op.43It'll be his first cello competition! I can't wait to watch him practice and perform this piece!
After the exams, my boys entered for some school track and field events. 100m, 800m, 4x100m and 16x100m relays. Regis got 6th 17"14 in 100m final and his class won the relay among 8 classes! Felix got 3rd 2'56" in 800m!

My dad came stay with us for one week and brought some vegetables. He, Regis and I accompanied Felix to Nanshan High School to register after Felix's piano lesson on March 20. My mom arrived to see Felix's performance in Falla Music Competition the next day.
My sister's family came to Taipei to spend Children's Day weekend with us. The kids had fun camping at home! We visited Danshui together on Children's Day and Laomei Green Reef the next day.

We visited my parents to celebrate Mother's Day. It's nice to see my brother and bring back some vegetables from my parents' garden.
