Christmas month 2019 平溪慈恩嶺

It’s a joyful month. Two of my students gave me birthday cake slices. I shard them with my sons. A first grade boy came say "Today's my birthday." just before class. I said "Happy birthday!" and asked the class to sing Happy Birthday Song in Chinese, English and Taiwanese and I accompanied on piano.
Regis told me one of his female classmates kicked him everyday and a boy played a joke on him like taking away or throwing his book in the science class. The girl gets the exemplary student award. The homeroom teacher didn't know she often kicked boys. I taught him how to solve the problems and told him to tell the teacher this. A few days later, they apologized and Regis plays with them again. What a happy ending!
We spent the first weekend of this December with my dad, who brought us a bag of organic tomatoes from his students. We went hiking together at Neidong (內洞) on the first day of this month. My husband and I visited this place 13.5 years ago!

We went hiking with my dad at Pingxi on Dec.15. Our route after lunch: Pingxi Jounior High School→Ci'enling (慈恩嶺)→Xiaozi Trail. The most challenging hike for my sons! It's a pity we didn't climb the summit of Mt. Xiaozi because it's getting dark. We plan to go back soon!

My big uncle from my mom's side passed away last month. My 2nd uncle's suffered from cancer for years and it's growing worse. We went see him and gave him a card and a red envelope with $2000 inside on the last Sunday of this month. He doesn't feel like eating, and looks so weak. Although I wanted to encourage him and cheer him up during 3 hour stay, I just said a few words when seeing him. So a card worked then. It expressed what I wanted to say.
